Just stirring things up because it's been quiet in here.

I have named my car.  It is now knows as the "Bionic Miata" not because it cost six million dollars ( as my wife thinks ), but because it is better than it was before, better, stronger, faster.

One month before the SCCA Solo Nationals we were in Topeka at a regional event doing some testing.  We bent all four connecting rods on the stock '99 bottom end.  We scrambled and thanks to the guys at Flyin Miata having parts on hand, and a very good, patient and willing to work with me on a tight schedule engine builder (Steve Estrada at http://www.wrroadrace.com/ ) we got it back together with some goodies.  We installed the motor on a Saturday and Sunday, made three dyno pulls on Monday, loaded it on the trailer Tuesday, arrived in Topeka Wednesday, and raced Thursday and Friday.

It's not the same dyno I always use, not completely tuned (megasquirt coming over the winter) and is reporting corrected CRANK horsepower.  But WOW does it pull strong and revs much more freely than it used to.
Build list:
Weisco 9.0:1 forged Pistons
Carillo H-Beam Rods
ARP Main Cap Studs
ATI Harmonic Ballancer
+1mm oversized intake and exhaust valves
Valve spring kit ( Ti retainers, aluminum spring seat, steel springs)
M-tuned dual feed fuel rail
Crank was straightened ( not that it was bent, but it wasn't straight enough for Steve )
Everything was balanced ( as much as you can balance a 4 cylinder anyway)

It will probably never be "noisy" here since we area a pretty small group of weight obsessed Miata owners. Even I don't check the site often (I have heard the same from other friends who have their own message boards). In any event, it sounds like you are making pretty good headway on the car. I'd love to take a ride in it and see how well it pulls.

I am sure a ride could be arranged.  Come to Colorado and it's easy, getting the car to your neck of the woods, maybe not.  Come to the scca solo nationals and it will be there, wherever there is.
